The Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Centre for Health and Wellness will boast a 42-foot-high roof and 26,000 square feet of versatile playing space, purpose-built to support soccer and football activities. Additional features will be installed after the reopening of the R.P. Bell Library, including:
- High-performance rubber court sport flooring
- Walking track for both the University and wider community
- Space for intramurals, community sports, and varsity team training
- Soccer coach's office
- Two new locker rooms
- New football team room and coach鈥檚 office
- Laundry room for athletics
- Equipment repair room
- Accessible field storage
- First aid and taping room
The facility will first serve as an Interim Library, providing a temporary library space on campus while the R.P. Bell Library is undergoing construction. After the facility is used as an Interim Library, it will serve as a long-term solution for a sports and recreation facility that will contribute not only to the health and wellness of students, faculty, and staff, but also for the wider community.
